The use of traditional British botanical illustration style responds to Hong Kong's historical context as a former British colony, while visually connecting the two cultures. On the front cover, the horse chestnut and longan are depicted separately, appearing unrelated; only when readers turn to the back cover do they discover the two plants' stems grafted and intertwined, revealing their underlying connection — a design intended to spark curiosity.
The rope wound around the stems symbolizes the deep transformation and interweaving within the migration process, a metaphor for how cultures evolve through collision and adaptation. This design not only carries aesthetic tension but also deepens the book's central proposition: how migrants take root anew in foreign cultural soil.
《接木法》的封面設計靈感來自英國馬栗樹與香港龍眼樹的嫁接。這兩種植物象徵不同文化的交匯與融合，呼應書中探討的移民與離散主題。嫁接的過程代表異質文化在新環境中的適應與重構，體現全球化背景下身份認同的流動與演變。
選用英國傳統植物科學插畫風格，回應香港作為前英國殖民地的歷史脈絡，同時在視覺上連結兩地文化。封面上，馬栗與龍眼分開描繪，看似毫無關聯；當讀者翻到封底，才發現兩株植物的莖已被嫁接、彼此纏繞，揭示它們的潛在連結——這個設計意在引發讀者的好奇。
纏繞在莖上的繩子象徵移民過程中深層的轉化與交融，隱喻文化在碰撞與適應中的演變。這個設計不僅在美學上具有張力，也深化了書的核心命題：移民如何在新的文化土壤中重新扎根。
