Mandibles is the first piece under FVNGR — a modular cap accessory shaped after the mandibles of a stag beetle.
I grew up around insects. Stag beetles more than most. I could watch them for hours, and I kept them as pets. When I first saw the cover of Massive Attack's Mezzanine, it felt like recognition — it captured exactly what I'd always been drawn to, the organic and the engineered in the same thing.
The product photography borrows from that album's tone. Cold, still, but not closed off. FVNGR is for people who don't need to explain themselves to belong. A tribe you don't have to talk your way into.
I scanned the cap, sculpted the claws on top of the scan, and 3D-printed them. After trying different attachment methods, I went with screws — as the assembly method and as a visual language. Both images are self-directed. Shot with props and minimal equipment, then composited with AI.
